At the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society (GVFBS), we see a significant increase in need during the summer months. Many families face higher child care and food costs as their children no longer benefit from regular school programs.
With global food prices hitting record-highs in 2011 and a projected five percent increase in food prices in Canada, we also anticipate an increase in food lines as more people struggle to get food on their table.
Make a difference in your community on National Hunger Awareness Day – Tuesday, May 31, 2011. You can make a positive impact locally by participating in the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society's "Lunch Money Day" campaign.
