Potluck is co-leading the DTES Kitchen Tables Project with DTES Neighbourhood House to identify, plan and implement DTES food security solutions in order to increase the availability, accessibility, affordability and choice of quality, nutritious food for DTES residents. The goal of the DTES Kitchen Tables Project is to create a robust, sustainable and connected food system in the DTES that takes into account the continuum of food from seed to compost. An innovated food system will address the disconnected and unsustainable charitable food system that exists today and instead will create a connected food system built on a Community Economic Development model that considers both environmental and socio-economic impacts. In summary, the DTES Kitchen Tables Project supports neighbourhood Community Nutrition as a whole, enhances the quality of life for DTES residents, and will also create more training and employment opportunities for DTES residents at the same time.
